A man has died in his attempt to save his dog. London resident , Stephen Cavanagh, reportedly died after falling through a frozen lake while trying to rescue his dog. Sixty -year - old Cavanagh jumped into the lake in Welling, south east London on Thursday, but passed away shortly after. Distressing footage of the tragedy captured on a nearby resident’ s security camera shows the grandfather running around the lake in Danson Park, Welling, south east London, as he tries to get his pet . He can be seen climbing over part of the fence close to the park’ s boathouse and then going around the water before he slips .
In the video, passersby then start running over to help him .

The demolition of N800 million Music House belonging to popular musician, Yinka Ayefele, in Ibadan has finally divided Oyo State government. While the government’s lawyer, Yomi Alliyu, denied the involvement of the state government in the demolition exercise, the Special Adviser to the Oyo State governor on Physical Planning and Development Control, Waheed Gbadamosi, admitted that it was the government that demolished Ayefele’s Fresh FM building. Barrister Alliyu told the State High Court, presided by Justice Iyabo Yerima on Monday August 20, that the state has no hand in Ayefele’s misfortune. “My clients are men of honour that respect rule of law and constituted authority and will have no reason to demolish the said property,” Alliyu told the court. The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has commended the gallantry of men of the Edo State Police Command, who foiled a robbery attack on a bank in Igarra, in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. Obaseki expressed regret over the death of some persons while the attack lasted and prayed for the repose of their souls.
